Apple's Home Hub Features StandBy Mode from iPhone Duo

Apple's upcoming smart home hub may feature a customizable display similar to the iPhone Duo's StandBy mode.

Apple is reportedly developing a new smart home hub that aims to provide a personalized experience for users. According to leaks, this device will allow users to choose from different display options, some of which will resemble the StandBy mode planned for the iPhone Duo. A leaker known as pdfu has shared images of a feature called 'Photo Face', which will enable users to showcase photo collections, memories, or shared albums on the hub's screen.

## Why it matters This feature is significant as it reinforces the integration of Apple's ecosystem, allowing users to visually display their iCloud memories in a more engaging way. Furthermore, the reliance on iCloud-stored photos suggests that Apple is betting on a more connected and personalized smart home experience.

## What we know Users will be prompted to set up the 'Photo Face' during device activation, promising an intuitive user experience. Images will be pulled directly from iCloud, making it necessary to have iCloud Photos enabled for it to function properly. This is the first time a design for the hub's face has been visualized, generating anticipation for its release.

## What is still unclear It is not yet confirmed when this smart home hub will officially launch or if it will include other interesting features. Additionally, the reason why the StandBy mode for the iPhone Duo is not available in the Xcode simulator has yet to be clarified by Apple.
