Beehiiv raises prices, users express dissatisfaction

Beehiiv, an alternative to Substack, has announced a price increase that has upset many users. The change aims to fund improvements to the platform.

Beehiiv, a platform that has gained popularity as an alternative to Substack, has decided to raise its prices, leading to dissatisfaction among its users. Tyler Denk, co-founder and CEO of Beehiiv, explained that this adjustment is essential for continuing to invest in the core experience of the platform. The most notable change is the renaming of its mid-range plan, which is now called Lite, with a minimum increase of $10 per month depending on subscriber count.

For those with up to 10,000 subscribers, the new price for the Lite plan will be $139 per month, a significant increase from the previous $109. Additionally, the Pro plan, formerly known as Max, will now cost $239 per month for the same 10,000 subscribers. This price hike has elicited negative reactions from creators using the platform, who feel frustrated by the increase at a time when competition in the sector is intensifying.

## Why it matters This price increase could impact many content creators' decisions when choosing a platform to publish and monetize their work. The competition with Substack and other platforms is fierce, and any change in pricing structure can influence user loyalty.

## What we know Beehiiv has justified the increase as a necessary measure to enhance its platform, suggesting that new features or improvements may be on the horizon. However, user reactions indicate that such changes are not always well-received.

## What remains unclear It is still unconfirmed how Beehiiv plans to utilize the additional revenue generated from this price increase, nor what new features could be implemented as a result of this investment.
