Corbenic AI optimizes SSD use to boost GPU performance

Belgian startup Corbenic AI introduces Galahad, enhancing GPU efficiency by avoiding repeated data reads. This approach promises significant performance gains without the need for specialized hardware.
Corbenic AI has launched Galahad, an innovative solution that optimizes server performance by caching the attention state of AI models in local NVMe drives. This technique prevents GPUs from having to reread documents they have already processed, promising to multiply system efficiency. According to Corbenic's founder, Sietse Schelpe, this approach does not require additional hardware, making it accessible for many companies.
Galahad, which entered beta on October 1, 2026, employs a method that saves a model's key-value (KV) cache to encrypted local storage. This allows the system to quickly load the previous state after a restart or when GPU memory is cleared, eliminating unnecessary read time.
The promised 14x performance boost of Galahad is primarily attributed to a retrieval component called Blaise, which optimizes how stored data is accessed. While other solutions like LMCache, Nvidia Dynamo, and WEKA already implement KV cache storage, Galahad stands out for its accuracy and secure reuse within a compact library.
The significance of this technology lies in its potential to enhance operational efficiency for businesses relying on artificial intelligence, enabling models to process data faster and more effectively. This can lead to lower operational costs and better utilization of existing resources.
In summary, Corbenic AI's proposal not only represents a technical advance but also offers a practical solution for optimizing the use of already available hardware in servers, which could be a game-changer for the artificial intelligence industry.
