New Pixel Watch 5 faces rolling out to older Pixel Watch 4

Google has officially started rolling out the new watch faces from the Pixel Watch 5 to Pixel Watch 4 owners through the Google Pixel Watch Faces app. The update includes faces such as Weave, Chronograph, Multicolor Modular, Multicolor Reveal, the Stephen Curry face, and reportedly an AI watch face generator. This rollout appears to be gradual, meaning some Pixel Watch 4 users may still be waiting for the update to appear in the Play Store.

Why it matters

The arrival of these watch faces to the Pixel Watch 4 showcases Google's effort to maintain interest in its older devices. Typically, new hardware models from Google come with a brief exclusivity period during which the most appealing features are reserved for them. However, the company has begun to democratize some of these features, allowing users of older devices to enjoy them as well.

What we know

The inclusion of these new watch faces not only provides users with more customization options but also reflects Google's commitment to enhancing the user experience on its devices. Pixel Watch 4 users now have access to a set of more modern design options that were previously unavailable to them.

What’s still unclear

It is not yet confirmed whether all the mentioned watch faces will be available to all Pixel Watch 4 users immediately, as the rollout is gradual. Additionally, details about potential future updates or more features that could be added to older models have not been specified.
