Siri AI update coming to older Apple TV models

Apple has announced that users of the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV 4K will receive a free update that includes Siri AI. This update, set to roll out later this year, will enhance the personal assistant experience for owners of these devices, allowing them to enjoy improved functionality without needing to purchase the latest model.

The new Siri AI feature promises to deliver a more robust experience, enabling users to interact more effectively via the Siri Remote or the device's far-field microphones. This enhancement will not only facilitate content recommendations but also allow for more complex queries, such as determining if a character from a show is based on a real person.

## Why it matters This update is significant as it breathes new life into devices that could have become obsolete. In a climate where consumers are increasingly cost-conscious, the ability to continue using their Apple TV without additional investment is a major attraction.

Moreover, the inclusion of Siri AI could make the viewing experience much more interactive and personalized, potentially influencing users' decisions on whether to upgrade their devices in the future.

## What we know The Siri AI update will be available in select countries and territories, though specific locations have yet to be detailed. Apple has confirmed that this enhancement is part of its effort to keep users engaged with its device ecosystem, even for those who do not own the latest model.

## What is still unclear It has not yet been confirmed if there will be any additional features included in the update or if performance improvements beyond Siri AI capabilities will be part of the package. The precise release date and geographical availability details are also pending clarification.
