Google Chat adds automatic meeting recaps

Google has launched a new feature in Google Chat that aims to solve one of the most common issues in the workplace: post-meeting confusion. This AI-powered tool will generate automatic summaries of discussions, decisions, and assigned tasks, which will be sent directly to meeting chats. This means participants will no longer have to sift through notes or recordings to remember what was agreed upon during the call.

The feature will be gradually rolled out to eligible Google Workspace subscribers. With this advancement, Google Chat is not only looking to improve communication efficiency but also to alleviate the stress that can arise after a meeting, where important details are often forgotten.

## Why it matters This innovation is significant because it addresses a productivity issue that affects teams. The lack of clarity regarding decisions made and responsibilities assigned can lead to misunderstandings and project delays. With automatic recaps, Google Chat could help keep everyone on the same page and facilitate task tracking.

## What we know The recaps will include links to Gemini notes, recordings, and transcripts, allowing participants to easily access additional information. This functionality not only enhances the experience for Google Chat users but also reinforces the integration of tools within the Google Workspace ecosystem.

## What remains unclear It has not yet been confirmed when this feature will be available to all Google Workspace users and whether there will be limitations on its use, such as the types of meetings that can generate recaps. Additionally, specific details about the artificial intelligence capabilities behind this tool have not been provided.
