Google makes email verification easier in Chrome on Android

Google is rolling out a new feature in Chrome 154 for Android that allows certain websites to verify email addresses directly through the browser. This option could replace the need for receiving a verification email or a one-time code, provided both the website and email provider support Google's new protocol.

## Why it matters The introduction of this feature marks a significant improvement in user experience when interacting with websites that require email verification. By eliminating the need to switch apps or wait for an email, it enhances navigation and reduces user frustration.

## What we know Chrome already has access to a lot of user information, such as saved addresses and payment details. With this new feature, the browser could authenticate an email address without the user having to check their inbox. This system has been in development for the desktop version of Chrome and is now being extended to the mobile environment.

## What remains unclear While Google has confirmed that this feature is being rolled out, there has been no information provided about which sites will support this new verification method. Additionally, the company is working to make this feature more consistent with Android's Verified Email system, but details on when this integration will be achieved are still pending.
