Google releases firmware update for older Nest speakers

Google has announced that it is working on a new firmware update for its previous-generation Nest speakers. This update, identified as version 3.79.550760, will bring improvements to audio streaming and fix issues with smart home controls. To access these enhancements, users will need to be signed up for the Google Home Preview Program.

Despite the possibility of Google phasing out the Nest brand in favor of new devices, the company has not forgotten about its older speakers. This is a relief for those who still use models like the Nest Audio, Nest Mini, and Google Home, which will now receive a performance boost thanks to this update.

Why it matters

This move by Google is significant as it shows the company’s commitment to users of its older devices, despite the shift towards new products. The update will not only enhance the audio experience but also optimize integration with other smart home devices, potentially resulting in a more connected and efficient home.

What we know

So far, Google has not provided an exact release date for this update, but it is expected that users who sign up for the Preview Program will gain early access to the improvements. This means that those eager to experience the new features should act quickly to register.

What is still unclear

It is still unclear how exactly these enhancements will be implemented in the user experience, nor if there will be further updates in the future for other hardware versions. The user community will be on the lookout for more news regarding this release.
