Google updates older Nest and Home speakers

Google has started testing firmware version 3.79.550760 for several of its older smart speakers, including the Google Home, Home Mini, Nest Mini, and Nest Audio. This update promises significant improvements in audio quality, Wi-Fi connectivity, and smart home controls, which is a relief for users who have noticed a decline in performance over time.

## Why it matters These updates are crucial as they allow older devices to remain relevant in a constantly evolving market. Additionally, they enhance user interaction with the Google Assistant, which is essential given the rise of smart homes.

## What we know The update not only focuses on audio but also improves the assistant’s ability to handle voice commands and provide more accurate weather responses, thanks to a separate October update that enhances Gemini for home conversations and device control within the Google Home app.

## What is still unclear It has not yet been confirmed when the update will be available to all users, nor if there will be further enhancements in future firmware versions.
